Wanted: Treasure Seekers
Chateau Sonoma Hosts 9th Annual French Flea Market
Sonoma, CA – Sarah Anderson, proprietor of Chateau Sonoma, has enlisted some of the Bay Area’s most intriguing and adventurous French importers to bring their finest and rarest French treasures to her annual French Flea Market.
“These importers have an innate ability to find these amazing treasures from all over France. They show up with magnificent wares; hard-to-find object de arts that we just don’t see often here in the U.S,” says Anderson.
The importers set up their booths, flea market style, in the whimsical backyard garden of Chateau Sonoma. “They often have great stories to tell about each object they’ve found. I tell my customers, ‘if you want something simply attractive and well made, there are plenty of chain stores that carry those kinds of products. But, if you want something with an aura of culture about it; something singular that can become a showcase piece in one’s home…..well, then, our French flea market is more apropos for that kind of treasure hunting.”
Anderson donates 10% of all proceeds from sales that day to Stand By Me Mentoring of Sonoma. The Sonoma Valley Mentoring Alliance has invested in the future of the community by creating and supervising one-on-one long-term relationships between caring adults and at-risk school children in need of academic and social support.
The French Flea Market will take place on May 21st and 22nd, at Chateau Sonoma, just off of the historic town square of Sonoma, at 153 West Napa Street.
