Whew! What a weekend it was for the French! Saturday we celebrated Bastille Day and I was overwhelmed and overjoyed by the number of you who came to celebrate Independence Day and for any of you who don’t know why it is call Bastille Day, it the anniversary of the Storming of the Bastille on July 14th, 1798, a turning point of the French Revolution which eventually led to the establishment of a republic in France. Independence Day for the French!
We really appreciated your enthusiasm and most everyone was dressed for the occasion. I have never seen so many stripes in one place before. Everyone looks so chic and the smiles and exchange of French salutations was contagious.
Her style is so quintessentially French with her recorded music playing in the background and a vintage microphone that was typical of the 40’s and 50’s. We can’t wait to have her return….so stay tuned.
We poured more champagne than we thought possible. It was actually a Crement de Borgogne and is a customer favorite! There is something about a glass of bubbles that really puts people in a festive mood.
It was a perfect pairing with the macarons that were hand made by La Marie Macaron. She prepared for us her two favorites - pistachio and Café o’lait! There were over 150 and there was not a morsel left on the plate and the inquiries came pouring in as to where to buy them. Marie’s phone will be ringing off the hook.
Once we thought the festivities were over, the French won the World Cup the following morning so once again we pulled out the bubbles and pate de campagne and rejoiced in their victory. Viva la France!!!
Thank you for joining in our celebration of everything French and for all of your support of Chateau Sonoma. We look forward to seeing you at our next soiree.
Merci and we love hearing from you!
