Fall at the farm is our favorite time of year and we want to share with you some of the things we love most about the season and tips on decorating with pumpkins!
There are so many reasons why fall is our favorite season of the year. The air becomes crisper and the days get a little shorter and we are reminded that is it time to slow our pace down and enjoy some of the fruits of our labor. A time to enjoy the bounty of the garden and bring in a burst of fall colors as we begin preparing for gatherings of friends and family.
This year we started with a visit to our local Sonoma Farmer’s Market where we met up with Missy and Austin from Bee Well Farms. As young local farmers in Sonoma, they are so enthusiastic about the work that they do. They are the farm to table movement! They have so many varieties of pumpkins that you are sure to find a mix that works into your fall decor.
We ended up with quite a variety of colors, shapes and sizes and placed them in different parts of the house based on the color palette of the space. The brighter ones ended up out in front of the house and we love the way it turned out.
HERE’S HOW TO CREATE YOUR OWN FESTIVE FALL DISPLAY:
-
Start with the anchor pieces. We love to use hay bales as risers to give different levels for the pumpkins to nest on. They are also a perfect tone to make the pumpkin colors really POP!
-
Next, pile on the pumpkins and use a variety of shapes and sizes to add interest. Do your best not to overthink it!
-
Finally, add one other element that you can easily forage for in your area. We often use old cornstalks and this year we pruned up an old oak tree and added that into the mix to fill out the display and add some more texture.
-
Voilà! You now have a festive way to wonderfully welcome every guest this season.
Once the front of the house was complete, we created smaller vignettes around the house so the season can be enjoyed in our living spaces as well. Pro tip: pumpkins are great for tabletop decor if flowers are not easily accessible!
We wish you a warm and cozy fall season surrounded by the bold bright colors of fall and spending time with the ones you love.
ABIENTOT,
SARAH
